Projects of Interest

Conservation of Mrs. Tom Thumb’s dress for the Middleborough Historical Association involved conservation treatment for all of the dress elements. Each element was treated independently and then the dress was reassembled. Silk infills and underlays were applied to the bodice, skirt, and overskirt. Sequins were cleaned and missing sequins were replaced. A child-size mannequin was rebuilt to accommodate her custom size.

The reproduction project called for the creation of two dining room valances at the Rough Point Mansion in Newport, Rhode Island. A team of volunteer stitchers worked over two years to complete the project.  The replacement valances are now installed.
