Marie Schlag, owner/conservator, earned her MS degree in Historic Textiles and Costume Conservation from the University of Rhode Island, Department of Textiles, Fashion Merchandising and Design, and her BS in Textiles and Clothing, from Lehman College, The City University of New York, Department of Family and Consumer Studies. She interned at the Preservation Society of Newport County, Newport, Rhode Island.
Ms. Schlag is an associate member of The American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (AIC) and also a member of its Textile Specialty Group and the Conservators in Private Practice Group.
She is also a member of the Costume Society of America and serves as a Board Member for its Northeastern Region. Additional memberships are held with The New England Museum Association, The New England Conservation Association, The Textile Society of America, The American Association of State and Local History, and The Association of Registrars and Collection Specialists.
As a conservator in private practice, Ms. Schlag is available as a consultant to museums, historical societies, and private clients assisting with costume and textile conservation, collection management, exhibition, and public and staff workshops.
